The opening animation sequence of romance anime Blue Box have been released on the TMS Anime YouTube channel.

Blue Box‘s opening is the latest to be storyboarded and unit directed by Tetsuro Araki (director of Attack on Titan Season 1, Kabeneri of the Iron FortressDeath Note, High School of the Dead), who previously worked on the opening for The Dangers in My Heart Season 2. In addition to having unsurprisingly heavy compositing, the WIT STUDIO-produced opening delivers, among other things, a badminton match captured by a rotating camera and several photo-like still shots of main heroine Chinatsu with a strong nostalgic flavor.

Blue Box began airing on October 3. It is based on the romance manga by Koji Miura, which began serialization in 2021 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and has 16 tankoubon volumes as of August 2024. The manga was originally a 2020 one-shot.

Viz Media describes the plot as:

Taiki admires Chinatsu from afar, but he doubts that she sees him in the same way. Yet somehow, he musters up the courage to tell her to never give up on her dreams! After such a bold declaration, will Taiki’s fleeting high school romance finally begin?
