Tsutomu Ueno (Sasaki and Miyano assistant director) is directing the anime, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend) as series screenwriter, Manabu Nii (Akiba Maid War) as character designer, and Emi Ota (Sasaki and Miyano hand-acting animator et al.) and Toku Watanabe (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: Doom of Dragon’s Sanctuary Episode 2 co-action animation director) as main animators. Studio Deen is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the main voice cast stars:

  • • Kohei Amasaki as Yuta Asamura
  • • Yuki Nakashima as Saki Ayase
  • • Daiki Hamano as Tomokazu Maru
  • • Ayu Suzuki as Maaya Narasaka
  • • Minori Suzuki as Shiori Yomiuri

The anime series is based on the light novels written by Ghost Mikawa and illustrated by Hiten, which was first published by Media Factory’s MF Bunko J imprint on January 25, 2021 and has released 11 volumes as of July 2024, with an 12th volume due out on October 25, 2024. The light novels also inspired a 2021 manga adaptation illustrated by Yumika Kanade. Yen Press releases the light novels and manga in English for North America.

The series is part of a mixed-media project that began as a YouTube video series with voiced illustrations. The voice cast from the video series reprised their respective roles for the anime adaptation.

Crunchyroll is streaming Days With My Stepsister worldwide, outside of Japan, and describes the main synopsis as:

When his father remarries, Yuta Asamura winds up sharing a roof with his new stepsister, Saki Ayase, the hottest girl in his grade. Carrying the scars of their parents’ troubled divorces, they vow to maintain a respectful distance. But what starts as cautious camaraderie blossoms into something deeper from shared experiences. Is it admiration, familial love, or something more?
