A new main key visual has been unveiled for the upcoming third Gintama theatrical film Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama-hen, which begins screening in Japan on November 22, 2024. Kintama-hen serves as a theatrical cut of episodes 253 to 256 of the original TV anime series.

The previous second film, Gintama on Theater 2D: Ikkoku Keisei-hen, was a compilation of episodes 257 to 261 and covered the “Courtesan of a Nation Arc” from the anime series. It will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on November 22, 2024.
The first theatrically edited film, Gintama on Theater 2D: Thorny Arc, premiered in Japanese theaters on November 10, 2023.
Hideaki Sorachi’s original sci-fi comedy manga series was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from December 8, 2003 to September 15, 2018. It then moved to Jump Giga from December 28, 2018 to February 22, 2019. The manga completed its publication in the free Gintama app from May 13, 2019 to June 20, 2019. A total of 77 tankobon volumes were released. VIZ Media released the manga’s first 23 tankobon volumes in English until 2011.
The manga series inspired a long-running TV anime series consisting of several seasons, as well as three anime films, OVAs, event anime specials, two live-action films, and a live-action web miniseries. An anime adaptation of the 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei spin-off light novels will premiere in 2025.

Crunchyroll is streaming the Gintama anime series, which describes the main synopsis as:
In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.
