Anime fans in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines will be able to catch special screenings of DAN DA DAN‘s first three episodes soon.
As revealed by Muse Asia, the DAN DA DAN screening will first come to Thailand, where it will be shown on August 31 and September 1. Vietnamese fans will get their chance to catch the anime adaptation’s first batch of episodes on September 7 at 7:30 PM, while the Philippines screening will take place on September 8 at 3 PM.
The locations for the screenings are Cinema 5 of Manila’s SM North Edsa for the Philippines and Saigon’s GALAXY SALA and Hanoi’s MIPEC for Vietnam. The Thailand screenings will be in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Korat, and Hatyai, though exact cinema locations haven’t been announced yet.
DAN DA DAN will begin its Japanese broadcast in October. Netflix and Crunchyroll will stream the show overseas.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published sci-fi occult manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, which debuted on Shonen Jump+ in 2021 and has 15 tankoubon volumes as of July 2024. Viz Media describes the plot as:
Momo Ayase strikes up an unusual friendship with her school’s UFO fanatic, whom she nicknames “Okarun” because he has a name that is not to be said aloud. While Momo believes in spirits, she thinks aliens are nothing but nonsense. Her new friend, meanwhile, thinks the exact opposite. To settle matters, the two set out to prove each other wrong—Momo to a UFO hotspot and Okarun to a haunted tunnel! What unfolds next is a beautiful story of young love…and oddly horny aliens and spirits?
Earlier this year, Anime Trending had the chance to speak with DAN DA DAN director Fuga Yamashiro and producer Kohei Sakita about the show at Anime Expo 2024. You can read the interview here.
