VIZ Media’s SuBLime Boys’ Love imprint has announced the acquisition of two new manga series: Pink Heart Jam beat and A Man Who Defies the World of BL. The new licenses were announced in celebration of 801 Day on August 1, 2024, which is also known in English as Yaoi Day.
Shikke’s Pink Heart Jam beat serves as a sequel to the 2020 BL manga series Pink Heart Jam. SuBLime will release the first volume of the manga digitally and physically in English in May 2025.
The sequel manga was first serialized in Mellow Kiss magazine on June 25, 2023. A single tankobon volume has been released as of March 2024.
The original Pink Heart Jam manga ran in Mellow Kiss from August 25, 2020 to April 25, 2022. SuBLime released the series in English in digital and physical formats in 2023. Two tankobon volumes were released in total.
SuBLime describes the first volume of the original series as:
Haiga lets Kanae introduce him to gay sex, and afterward his innocent crush on Kanae is replaced with a whole new type of attraction. The first volume of Konkici’s A Man Who Defies the World of BL will be released by SuBLime physically and digitally in English in August 2025. The second volume will be released in November 2025, the third volume in February 2026, and the fourth volume in May 2026.
The series was first published digitally by Shodensha in Pixiv Comic and the Manga Jam mobile app on November 7, 2018. Four tankobon volumes have been released as of August 2023.
The manga also inspired a two season live-action Japanese drama series, which contained seven total episodes. Season one was released on March 27, 2021 and season two was released on March 20, 2022.
SuBLime describes the synopsis of A Man Who Defies the World of BL as:
A young man lives in a world where he’s surrounded by BL tropes. His male friends keep falling in love, but all he wants is to be left alone!
