The Promised Neverland manga series is celebrating its eighth anniversary with the release of a new commemorative illustration from series artist Posuka Demizu. The anime’s official Twitter account is also teasing more new events coming soon. 

The manga, written by Kaiu Shirai, first debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on August 1, 2016 and lasted until June 15, 2020. A total of 20 tankobon volumes were released during its publication run. VIZ Media releases the manga in English for North America.

A TV anime adaptation containing two seasons aired in Japan in 2019 and 2021, respectively. CloverWorks was the animation production company. Crunchyroll and Netflix are streaming the anime worldwide, outside of Japan. 

Besides the anime, the series also inspired four light novels, a manga spinoff, a 2021 video game, and a 2020 live-action film adaptation.

VIZ describes the synopsis of The Promised Neverland as: 

Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn – what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
