A trailer has been released for the upcoming Toilet Bound Hanako-kun sequel, which is titled Toilet Bound Hanako-kun 2. A January 2025 premiere date was also announced for the anime.

The second season of the After-school Hanako-kun short anime spin-off also received a trailer of its own as well as an October 7 JST premiere date.

Toilet Bound Hanako-kun is directed by Yohei Fukui (Bakugan: Evolutions assistant director, Toilet Bound Hanako-kun Episode 10 director) at Lerche with Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun) as series composer and Mayuka Ito (Toilet Bound Hanako-kun) as character designer.

Toilet Bound Hanako-kun 2 and After-school Hanako-kun are part of a new Hanako-kun project that was first announced in December 2022. The first season of Toilet Bound Hanako-kun aired in 2020.

Toilet Bound Hanako-kun started as a Square Enix-published manga series by AidaIro that began serialization in Monthly G Fantasy in 2014 and has 22 tankoubon volumes as of July 26, 2024 JST. The After-school Hanako-kun manga debuted in 2018 and has two tankoubons as of February 2024.

Yen Press describes the main series as:

“Hanako-san, Hanako-san…are you there?” At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!
