ATLUS West has released an over-three-minute story trailer for fantasy JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Metaphor: ReFantazio‘s premise revolves around a competition for the throne of The United Kingdom of Euchronia, which kicks off after the assassination of its monarch. The trailer previews the cutscene where the dead king, via magic, dramatically announces this manner of succession and addresses his former subjects as “kingless,” as well as a slew of characters and bits of details about the world. There’s also a scene where the main playable character receives a kabedon.
Metaphor: ReFantazio will launch on October 11 for Xbox Series X/S, Windows, PS5, PS4, Windows, and Steam. It’s developed by Studio Zero and features Persona alumni like game director Katsura Hashino (Persona 3, 4, and 5), character designer Shigenori Soejima (Persona 3, 4, and 5), and music composer Shoji Meguro (Persona 3, 4, and 5). It also has backgrounds from Koda Kazuma (NieR: Automata, Code Vein) and mechanical designs from Ikuto Yamashita (Neon Genesis Evangelion co-mechanical designer, Rebuild of Evangelion main mechanical designer).
