Originally announced at Nintendo Direct 2024, the upcoming Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero SRPG has received a new and longer announcement trailer that sheds more light on the characters, premise, and soul-summoning/binding gameplay.

Additionally, publisher NIS is offering a discount for Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero‘s predecessor. Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered can be bought as part of the Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1: Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered / Soul Nomad & the World Eaters bundle for 75% off on the Nintendo eShop until July 7 and for 71% off on Steam.

Steam also has Phantom Brave PC, which contains “all Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle and Phantom Brave: We Meet Again content.” This is 80% off until July 11.

Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle is the name that was given to the 2011 (2010 in Japan) PSP port of Phantom Brave, which was originally released in 2004 for PS2. Phantom Brave: We Meet Again was the name of the 2009 Wii port.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero will be released in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam (the Steam release will be later than the others). Its main defining mechanic is Confine, which lets protagonist Marona summon souls called Phantoms into battle by binding them to objects. Marona can also summon her allies into tools like robots and cannons, and even into herself to gain “show-stopping special attacks” on top of an aesthetic change.

The Nippon Ichi Software-developed game will also have 51 unit types, randomized dungeons, and non-grid-based movement. Here’s the official description:

In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, the story follows Marona – a gifted young girl with the power to speak to Phantoms – as she traverses the ocean world of Ivoire, providing aid to those in need. When a fleet of ghost ships attack, it’s up to Marona and her new friend Apricot to assemble the legendary crew that once defeated these spectral foes.

Recruit Phantoms, bind them to objects, combine them with Gadgets, and even merge them with Marona herself to unleash show-stopping abilities and sink the Shipwreck Fleet!
