The first anime movie in the upcoming Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Kanketsu-hen trilogy has received a main trailer, which includes a peek at a live performance scene.
New characters are also shown.
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club Kanketsu-hen is the sequel to the two-season Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club TV anime and its OVA. The first film, Chapter 1, features the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club receiving an invitation to the Idol GPX (Grand Prix), leading to Ayumu, Kasumi, Shizuku, Kanata, Ema, and Lanzhu heading off to Okinawa. Participants of the Idol GPX compete against one another as individuals, which causes Ayumu to have conflicted feelings.
Chapter 1 will premiere in Japan on September 6.
The first season of the series ran from October to December 2020, while the second season ran from April to June 2022. The OVA was released in 2023. Crunchyroll describes the series as:
Nijigasaki High School is known for their diverse subjects and the freedom they give to students. Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the School Idol Club with her friend, Ayumu Uehara. Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each contribute their own thoughts and motivations to the group.
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is part of the Love Live! multimedia franchise. Its starting cast was announced in 2017 as part of the now-defunct Love Live! School Idol Festival game’s PERFECT Dream Project anniversary project.
One of the original cast members, Tomori Kusunoki, left her role as Setsuna Yuki on March 31, 2023 due to medical reasons.
