The second season of the Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles anime has received a teaser trailer, teaser visual, and October 2024 premiere window.

The new season is again produced by TMS Entertainment Studio 6 with cooperation from WAO World. Season 1’s Osamu Yamasaki is returning as series composer and co-scriptwriter, but is serving as chief director instead of director this time. The new director is Hiroshi Kubo (Season 1 ending animation storyboard artist and director, Magikano compositing director).

Kyoko Yufu is reprising her character designer role.

Among the returning Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles cast are Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Rio/Haruto Amakawa, Akane Fujita as Celia Claire, Yuki Kuwahara as Aishia, According to the anime’s X (formerly Twitter) account, characters to look out for in Season 2 include Aki Sendo (Marika Kono), Masato Sendo (Aguri Onishi), and Hiroaki Sakata (Hiroyuki Yoshino).

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is based on the HJ Bunko light novels written by Yuri Kitayama and illustrated by Riv. The series started in 2015 and has 25 volumes as of February 2024. J-Novel Club describes the plot as:

Meet Rio: a callous orphaned boy living in the slums. At only 7-years-old, he realizes he’s actually the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past. While still reeling from this shocking epiphany, Rio also comes to learn that he possesses extremely potent magical abilities and uses his new powers to solve the kidnapping case of a little girl. His good deed is acknowledged, and he’s rewarded by being enrolled into… a prestigious academy for noble children…?

The light novels have inspired two manga adaptations, with the initial attempt being short-lived. There is also a Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles browser game and radio show. The story debuted on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2014.
