Anime Limited has announced that the Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray is open for pre-order in North America, Europe, and the U.K starting June 6, 2024. Pre-orders will open at various times at 5:00 PM BST, 12:00 PM EST, and 9:00 AM PST, and the product will be shipped out sometime in Fall 2024.
The new Ultimate Edition Blu-ray set will be released outside of Japan for the first time and is licensed in the West under Big West. It comes in a high quality package in a large rigid slipcase, designed with the series’ most iconic visuals. Other bonus items in the set include nine art cards celebrating all of the title’s key visuals and an A3 concert promotion poster, paying homage to in-universe virtual pop idol Sharon Apple.
The Ultimate Edition set also features two discs that contain the movie and OVA versions of Macross Plus. Features on the disc includes the full Manga Entertainment dub for the OVA version of the show, the Bandai Visual dub of the fourth OVA, as well as Manga Entertainment and Bandai Visual’s subtitles for the Movie Edition. Other extras include an interview with Shoji Kawamori and special visual effects director Ichiro Itano.
Also included in the Blu-ray set is an art and interview book that contains a comprehensive hardback book chronicling the history, production and creative efforts behind Macross Plus. It features interviews with the anime’s creators about the character designs, background, and key animation artwork.
The Blu-ray set will be available to pre-order in North America exclusively on the Crunchyroll Store, while it will be exclusively available in the U.K via All the Anime’s website. Fans can also sign up for updates on the release here.
