A third trailer that focuses on the romance simulator side of the game was also released.
In Witch and Lilies, players will lead a five-girl party into a mysterious labyrinth, left behind by the witch who created the world, where they will battle various monsters in turn-based fights. There are 10 classes including melee-focused warriors, tanky knights, and wizards, and “abilities can differ vastly even among characters with the same job.”
Players will also get to play matchmaker, with the ability to “pair up party members based on your own tastes, be it personal preference or strategic advantage.” When the bonds between characters get stronger, they’ll get into romantic events like dates and confessions and also unlock new skills. Once two girls become lovers, “they will be able to protect each other in battle and unleash powerful joint attacks, providing a significant edge during adventure.”
It’s also possible for the girls to break up or get jealous, although it’s unclear if these situations will lead to adverse effects like lower performance in battle.
The press release says that the romance simulator aspect of Witch and Lilies is its “main game system,” and that the RPG portion is “inspired by classic dungeon-based RPGs.”
Witch and Lilies features character designs from illustrator magodesu, the co-character designer of Space Patrol Luluco, and a scenario by Corpse Party‘s Makoto Kedouin. The Stromatosoft-developed title had a crowdfunding campaign from September to October 2022, during which it raised over 21 million yen (~US$134.7 thousand) out of its original goal of 1 million yen (~US$ 6.4 thousand).
The voice cast includes:
