Another “Unrequited Love” key visual has been released for the upcoming Too Many Losing Heroines!, spotlighting Lemon Yakishio in honor of Confession Day in Japan. The anime series is scheduled to air in July 2024.
Confession Day takes place in Japan on May 9, 2024 and was registered by healthcare company Unilever Japan as a way to give confidence for men looking to confess to their crushes, often by marketing various deodorants and shower gels. Coincidentally, it also shares the date with Goku Day.

This is the second “Unrequited Love” key visual for Too Many Losing Heroines!, after the release of the first visual of Anna Yanami for Heartbreak Day last April.
Shotaro Kitamura (Overtake! Episode 4 and Shaman King Flowers Episode 5 storyboard artist and director) is directing the anime, with Masahiro Yokotani (Ohmuro-ke: Dear Sisters) as series screenwriter, Tetsuya Kawakami (86 Eighty-Six) as character designer, Yuu Saito (Warlords of Sigrdrifa Episode 4 ending animation character designer) as sub-character designer, Ayaka Murakami (Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night) as color designer, Yuuki Hatakeyama (The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes) as art director, Yohei Miyawaki (Fate/strange Fake Whispers of Dawn) as compositing director, and Kana Utatane (Overtake!) as music composer. A-1 Pictures is in charge of the animation production.
Miura Takumitsu, Akane Takeda, and Mirai Kawashima (Kaguya-sama: Love is War -Ultra Romantic in-between animation checker) are involved as main animators in the series.
Meanwhile, the main voice cast consists of:
- • Shuuichiro Umeda as Kazuhiko Nukumizu
- • Hikaru Toono as Anna Yanami
- • Shion Wakayama as Remon Yakishio
- • Momoka Terasawa as Chika Komari
The anime is based on the romantic comedy light novel series written by Takibi Amamori and illustrated by Imigimuru. It was first published by Gagaga Bunko on July 21, 2021 and has released six volumes as of December 2023. The light novel series was the Gagaga Award winner at the 15th Shogakukan Light Novel Taisho event.

The series also inspired a manga adaptation by Itachi, which has been serialized on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website and MangaONE app since April 29, 2022. Two tankobon volumes have been released as of August 2023.
Seven Seas Entertainment will release the Too Many Losing Heroines! light novel and manga in English later in Fall 2024, describing the synopsis as:
Plain, boring, and friendless Nukumizu Kazuhiko has witnessed something completely baffling: popular girl Yanami Anna was friend-zoned by her childhood friend and crush!
