ATLUS has released a new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, providing another look at its gameplay, story, and world.
Vengeance was announced in February and is currently set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Steam, and PC on June 14, with pre-orders already open. The JRPG is described as the definitive version of 2021’s Shin Megami Tensei V, the latest title in the long-running Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
Vengeance features an extra story route called Canon of Vengeance, which ATLUS describes as a “dramatic tale of revenge by the fallen, centered around new characters and an enigmatic cohort of demons, the Qadištu, who plot their own dark designs apart from the war of those who fight to maintain order and those who seek to defy it.” In the original Canon of Creation route, players become involved in an “eternal conflict between angels and demons, in which the protagonist fights for the world’s fate.”
Other content additions include fresh locations, “dozens of” new demons that bring the total to over 270, and new choices. Also advertised are more “accessible” (albeit still “intense,” according to the “An Ideal World” trailer) gameplay, an “improved battle system, new demon experiences, and greater field exploration.”
The previous, regular version of Shin Megami Tensei V was exclusively released for the Switch. It has a critic Metascore of 84 and a user score of 7.5.
