Bandai Namco has announced That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Isekai Chronicles, a side-scrolling action RPG with city-building elements that will launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam on August 8, 2024.

The action side of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Isekai Chronicles will involve players defeating enemies with “combo attacks and flashy special moves.” Improving Rimuru’s bonds with allies will give him fancy Special Attacks — buddying up with Benimaru will unlock the explosive Black Flame Burst, while maxing your relationship with Souei gives Rimuru the Body Double attack move.

Characters can be strengthened by building new structures in the Jura Tempest Federation, which, based on the trailer can be navigated via a 3D isometric perspective. The previewed buffs affect stats like HP, ATK, SATK, DEF, SDEF, and Luck (SATK and SDEF are, presumably, Spell Attack and Spell Defense, respectively).

The game will adapt the story of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime, “from the encounter with the Kijin to the battle against Kingdom of Falmuth,” while also including “two brand new adventures.” The original content is written by the light novels’ author, Fuse, and will see Rimuru facing a “powerful new enemy.” There will be full voice-acting in the game.

ZOC Co.,Ltd. and MONKEYCRAFT Co. Ltd. are co-developing That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Isekai Chronicles.
