Malaysian cinema chain Golden Screen Cinemas announced that the Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle anime movie will begin screening on May 16.
A fan’s screening is also planned and will have details revealed later.
Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle premiered in Japan on February 16 and is now the country’s 47th highest-grossing movie with 9.78 billion yen (~US$62 million). The film tackles the Spring Nationals match between Karasuno and Nekoma and is the first new Haikyu!! anime since the TV anime’s fourth season, Haikyu!! To The Top, in 2020.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published Haikyu!! manga by Haruichi Furudate, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020 and is collected into 45 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the manga as:
After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!
The first season of the anime started airing in 2014. In 2022, it was announced that there would be a two-part Haikyu!! Final movie.
