A new theatrical PV trailer has been unveiled for the upcoming second season of The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors. The first 12-episode season will premiere on April 5, 2024 after the series was screened in theaters from October 27, 2023 to January 5, 2024. 

Before the second season’s premiere this coming Fall 2024, it will be screened in three parts in Japanese theaters, with the first part releasing on July 5, 2024, the second part on August 23, 2024, and the third part on September 20, 2024. 

Mankyuu is returning to direct season two, along with Takeshi Iwata (previously assistant director and CG director). Susumu Sagai is returning as CG director, Yoichi Kato as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, and Ryohei Fukushi as character designer. Lantis is credited with the music production once again. Polygon Pictures is in charge of the animation production again. 

The anime features idols from the illumination STARS, L’Antica, Houkago Climax Girls, ALSTROEMERIA, and Straylight units. Other characters include 283 Production staff member Hazuki Nanakusa (voiced by Hibiku Yamamura) and 283 president Tsutomu Amai (Kenjiro Tsuda).

The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors is inspired by the video game of the same name, which was released on the enza website on April 24, 2018 and on Android and iOS on March 13, 2019. The game has players taking on the role of a new producer at 283 Production who is put in charge of various idols.

The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors is part of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s The Idolmaster (stylized as THE iDOLM@STER) multimedia franchise, which began with a 2005 arcade game that was ported to the Xbox 360 in 2007. Previous anime entries in the franchise include 2007’s Idolmaster: Xenoglossia, 2011’s The Idolmaster, 2015’s The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, 2017’s The Idolmaster SideM, Spring 2023’s The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls U149, and Fall 2023’s The Idolmaster Million Live!.
