During AnimeJapan 2024, it was revealed that 【OSHI NO KO】Season 2 will premiere in July 2024. A new key visual and video featuring new cast members and previewing the Tokyo Blade arc were also released.
The returning staff of the Doga Kobo production includes director Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project, Asteroid in Love), assistant director Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection Project Episode 7 dance part director and storyboarder et al.), series composer Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp), and character designer Kanna Hirayama (Selection Project, Rent-A-Girlfriend).
The first season of OSHI NO KO ran from April to June with 11 episodes, including an extended 90-minute premiere. HIDIVE, Bilibili, Netflix, and iQIYI were among the platforms that streamed the show outside Japan.
The anime is an adaptation of the Shueisha-published manga written by Aka Akasaka and drawn by Mengo Yokoyari, which began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2020 and has 12 tankoubon volumes as of July 2023. Yen Press describes the manga as:
