Twin Engine Announces Two New Studios, Including Shingo Yamashita-led Studio Chromato featured image

Anime holding and planning company Twin Engine has announced the existence of two new studios: Studio Chromato and Crew-Cell.

Studio Chromato is led by and centered around animator and director Shingo Yamashita, whose recent credits include storyboarding and directing the opening animations of the upcoming Astro Note, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3Chainsaw ManRanking of Kings (second opening), and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, and being chief director of Pokétoon. Yamashita’s message mentions the desire to make “charming original anime” and the refinement of “3D for hand-drawn animation.”

Crew-Cell’s president is Kazuki Enami, who has animation producer credits on My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World!, I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, and Babylon. Part of Enami’s goal is to create “new viewing experiences.”

Both studios will be under Twin Engine’s EOTA (Engine Of The Animation) network. The network includes studios like Studio ColoridoBUG FILMS, Studio Kafka, and the recent NAGOMI, as well as smaller entities (which Twin Engine also labels as studios) like EOTA Compositing Unit and Studio Colorido’s art department and team Yamahitsuji sub-studio. With the addition of Studio Chromato and Crew-Cell, there are now 17 studios in EOTA.

Twin Engine was founded in 2014 by Kouji Yamamoto, who was formerly involved with Fuji TV’s noitaminA block.
