Illustrator Mutsumi Inomata, who was a character designer for many Tales games and was also involved in various anime, passed away on March 10. 

The news was announced on Inomata’s X/Twitter account by her younger sister.

Born in 1960 in Kanagawa Prefecture, Inomata provided the character designs for anime like 1983’s Plawres Sanshirou, 1985’s Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko, 1986’s Windaria, and 1998’s Tenjouhen: Utsunomiko

Among her other anime credits: original character designer on Future GPX Cyber Formula, co-chief animator on Sengoku Majin Goshogun, co-design cooperator on Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, and uniform draft designer for Mai-Hime

JRPG fans may know Inomata best for her work on the Tales series. Some of the entries she was involved in as character designer include:

Tales of the Tempest
Tales of Graces f
Tales of Xillia
• Tales of Xillia 2
• Tales of Hearts R
Tales of Zestiria
Tales of Berseria

Inomata was also character designer for games like Yami no Ketsuzoku: Haruka Naru Kioku and the three Emit volumes. She has also illustrated for many novels, including The Weathering Continent and Maboroshi no Shogun.
