Kou Yamori’s sleepless nights with vampires are set to continue, as a second season of the Call of the Night anime adaptation has been announced. Tomoyuki Itamura (The Case Study of Vanitas, Owarimonogatari) is back as director, and there’s a teaser visual featuring Nazuna Nanakusa, Anko Uguisu, and the show’s recognizable background color palette.
The returning cast includes Gen Satou as Kou, Sora Amamiya as Nazuna, Miyuki Sawashiro as Anko, Yumiri Hanamori as Akira Asai, Haruka Tomatsu as Seri Kikyo, Eri Kitamura as Niko Hirata, Shizuka Itou as Kabura Honda, Naomi Ohzora as Midori Kohakobe, Azumi Waki as Hatsuka Suzushiro, Kenshou Ono as Mahiru Seki, and Hiroyuki Yoshino as Akihito Akiyama. The news was announced as part of Fuji TV’s 2024 anime lineup reveal.
The first season of Call of the Night premiered in July 2022. It is based on the manga by Kotoyama that began in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2019 and has 19 tankoubon volumes as of February 2024. Viz describes the story as:
One sleepless night, Ko slips out to walk the streets. Life after dark is a revelation! When flirtatious Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them… Is it just the delicious taste of his blood that makes her meet him night after night for late-night adventures, conversation and…naps? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Ko’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test!
The anime is produced by LIDENFILMS.
