As reported by Comic Natalie, Toppuu to Beat (which is Shiina’s first non-Kimi ni Todoke-related serialization since that series began in 2005) takes place in a small seaside town in Hokkaido and features a shift to a digital workflow. A mysterious high school girl, Nike, re-encounters Nemo, a boy who rarely shows up in class, which kickstarts a mystery-filled journey about finding her forgotten self.

In between Kimi ni Todoke (which ended in 2017) and Toppuu to Beat, Shiina worked on the former’s college-set sequel Kimi ni Todoke Bangai-hen: Unmei no Hito, which Viz Media is publishing this spring as Kimi ni Todoke: From Me To You: Soulmate. Soulmate ran from 2018 to 2022 and focuses on the romance between Kurumi and Sawako’s cousin.
