The Shoshimin Series mystery novels are inspiring a TV anime adaptation titled Shoshimin: How to become Ordinary, which will premiere in July. A teaser trailer and visual have been released.

Shoshimin follows Jogoro Kobato (Shuuichi Umeda), a boy with great deduction skills, and Yuki Osanai (Hina Youmiya), a girl with sharp perception and strong initiative. Both yearn for an ordinary life, the former due to bitter experiences and the latter because of past failures. Alas for them, their high school seems to be a hotbed for mysterious cases and misfortune.

Mamoru Kanbe (The Perfect Insider, The Promised Neverland) is directing the adaptation at Lapin Track. Toshiya Oono (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2) is handling series composition, while Atsushi Saitou (Love Live! Superstar!!) is the character designer. Takahiro Obata (The Promised Neverland) is the music composer.

The Shoshimin books are written by Hyouka’s Honobu Yonezawa and published by Tokyo Sogensha under its Sougen Suiri Bunko label. Four volumes were released between 2004 to 2009, and a short story compilation was released in 2020. The first two books have inspired manga adaptations.
