It was also revealed that the movie will receive MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema screenings beginning February 9.
Additionally, it was announced that a novella by Ryuu Gotou (the author of Seed and Seed Destiny‘s light novel adaptations) and a promotion card will be given out to cinema attendees who watch the movie between January 26 (its premiere date) to February 1. There are two novellas and two promotion cards in total, and whichever one viewers receive will be randomly selected. The free gifts will change on a weekly basis.
The screening locations will also feature the advance sale of the HG1/144 Rising Freedom Gundam (Clear Color) and sales of a pamphlet which includes interview comments from the director, music composer, and cast. A fancier edition of the pamphlet will include character and mecha designs.
There will also be sales of a shopping bag and a popcorn set that comes with a random mini acrylic file — the bag features the movie’s promotional visuals, while the files have stage greeting-themed illustrations. A reproduction of one of the illustrations (featuring 10 characters instead of just a particular pair) and an acrylic diorama based on that illustration can be pre-ordered on Shochiku’s Froovie from January 26 to March 3, with shipping planned to begin in May.
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom is set in the 75th year of Seed‘s Cosmic Era timeline, shortly after the end of the Second Alliance-PLANT War in Seed Destiny. The story will introduce Foundation, a nation that seeks independence from the Eurasian Federation; Blue Cosmos, an anti-Coordinator faction; and C.O.M.P.S, a peacekeeping outfit which Kira and most of the main characters are affiliated with.
Seed and Seed Destiny premiered in 2002 and 2004, respectively. Plans for a sequel movie were first revealed in 2006. Production was announced as ongoing in 2021.
Gundam.info describes Seed as:
In Cosmic Era (C.E.) 70…
“The tensions mounted between the Earth Alliance and the ZAFT Forces caused by the ‘Bloody Valentine’ tragedy have erupted into an all-out war.” The Earth Alliance’s mobile armor forces and tanks launch…mobile suits are destroyed one after another…
“It seemed a foregone conclusion that the Earth Alliance, with its superior numbers, would be victorious. But this initial assessment proved to be false. Almost 11 months have passed since the conflict began, with no end in sight…”
