A main trailer and key visual have been released for the new The Irregular at Magic High School anime, which is now officially labelled as Season 3. An April Japanese premiere window and additional staff info were revealed as well.
Some of the returning names from The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor’s Arc include Kana Ishida as character designer and chief animation director and Lightworks’ Muneo Nakamoto as scriptwriter. Asumi Hashimoto (The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc co-animation director) is serving as sub-character designer.
Additionally, it was announced that Houchuu Ootsuka will take over the role of Retsu Kudou from the late Motomu Kiyokawa, who passed in 2022.
The trailer includes a preview of the opening song “Shouted Serenade” by LiSA and reveals that the third season will cover the “Double Seven Arc,” “Steeplechase Arc,” and “Ancient City Insurrection Arc.”
The Irregular at Magic High School is based on the Dengeki Bunko light novel series written by Tsutomu Satou and illustrated by Kana Ishida. The books started publication in March 2011 and ended with 32 volumes in September 2020. A sequel series began in October 2020.

The anime’s Madhouse-produced first season had its premiere in 2014. The Eight Bit-produced anime movie The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Calls the Stars followed in 2017. Eight Bit also produced 2020’s The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor’s Arc and 2021’s The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc. The new anime was announced in December 2021.
The Irregular at Magic High School was first written as a web novel, with publication on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website beginning in 2008.
