Aniplex has revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Wind Breaker anime adaptation, which is set to air from April 2024. The new promotional video comes with footage from the anime, which was absent from the teaser trailer.
The core staff lineup for the CloverWorks production was announced as well. Toshifumi Akai (Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) is directing, Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen) is handling the series composition, Taishi Kawakami ( “White Snow,” Akebi’s Sailor Uniform co-sub-character designer) is the character designer, and Ryou Takahashi is the music composer.
Wind Breaker is based on the delinquent-themed manga by Satoru Nii, which has been serialized on Magazine Pocket since 2021 and has 14 tankoubon volumes published under the Kodansha Comics label as of November 2023. Kodansha USA describes the manga’s plot as:
Haruka Sakura wants nothing to do with weaklings—he’s only interested in the strongest of the strong. He’s from Fuurin High School, a school of near-dropout degenerates known only for their brawling strength. And in a town known for its territorial disputes, Haruka’s got only one goal—become the hero his town deserves.
