Bartender: Glass of God is inspired by the original Bartender manga written by Araki Joh and illustrated by Kenji Nagatomo. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Super Jump and Grand Jump magazines between December 2004 and February 2012, releasing a total of 21 tankoubon volumes.
The manga also inspired several follow-up titles with Bartender à Paris in 2012, Bartender à Tokyo in 2013, and Bartender 6stp in 2016. All three series were illustrated by Osamu Kajisa.

A previous 11-episode TV anime series aired in 2006, while an 8-episode TV drama adaptation aired in 2011. The anime was produced by PALM COMPANY and directed by Masaki Watanabe (Battle Spirits: Mirage).
Shout! Factory and Anime Limited released the 2006 anime digitally and physically in North America in 2020. Both companies describes the synopsis as:
Situated in the Ginza district of Tokyo is the Eden Hall, a quiet bar that few people manage to come across. It is run by the legendary bartender Ryuu Sasakura, a genius at mixing the right drink for the right customer. Throughout his period at Eden Hall, customers from all walks of life, carrying all sorts of burdens, arrive for a godly glass at the Hall and a kind word with Ryu, both of which assist in clearing their problems up and reviving them for another go at life.
