An anime adaptation of Part 3 of the Ascendance of a Bookworm light novel series, Adopted Daughter of an Archduke, has been announced with WIT Studio as the animation production studio. The previous three seasons were produced by Ajia-do.
The new anime’s announcement comes before the launch of Part 5 Volume 12 of the book series on December 9.
The TO Books-published Ascendance of a Bookworm series began in 2015, two years after the story’s debut as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel, and has inspired manga adaptations of its first four parts. The books are written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by You Shiina.
Crunchyroll describes the first season of the anime as:
Avid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of. When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Main, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, which had a harsh class system. But as long as she had books, she didn’t really need anything else. However, books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. But that doesn’t stop her, so she makes a decision… “If there aren’t any books, I’ll just create some.”
Meanwhile, J-Novel Club’s synopsis for the first Adopted Daughter of an Archduke volume is:
Following a disastrous encounter with a noble, Myne finally resolves to say goodbye to her family and friends in the lower city, changing her name to Rozemyne and beginning her new life as the adopted daughter of Ehrenfest’s archduke. However, her days as an archnoble in noble society are brutal, as she is put through rigorous etiquette and magic training on top of her duties as High Bishop and forewoman. It all proves too much for a weak little seven-year-old girl… Or it would have, had the High Priest not offered her the keys to the temple’s book room as a reward. If she could get her hands on those, she’d be able to read all sorts of precious books! Her name may have changed, but Rozemyne’s passion for books remains the same as she charges into awhole new world! The detailed setting expands as the printing industry grows in size. Here begins Part 3 of this biblio-fantasy for book lovers everywhere!”
