The upcoming Whisper Me A Love Song has received its first full trailer and a delay to its premiere. Originally meant to begin airing in January 2024, the yuri anime will now begin its Japanese broadcast in April instead due to “various circumstance.”

There are also some notable changes to the production credits. Akira Mano (Ghost Hunt, Gunslinger Girl: -Il Teatrino-) is now credited as director instead of Xinya Cai (The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt assistant director), while Yokohama Animation Lab is sharing animation production credits with CLOUDHEARTS instead of merely supervising. Yokohama’s name is also placed in front of CLOUDHEARTS’.

According to the Whisper Me A Love Song anime’s website, the director change was made due to Cai’s health.

Additionally, there are newly announced staff credits, some of which include Ryuunosuke Ouji (Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal sub-character designer) as sub-character designer and costume designer and Hiroshi Sasaki and Wataru Maeguchi as music composers.

Whisper Me A Love Song previously previewed its main characters’ voices in March’s teaser trailer, but the new trailer provides our first look at actual anime footage. The promotional video shows various scenes of Hana Shimano‘s Himari Kino and Asami Seto‘s Yori Asanagi and reveals the anime’s heavy post-processing.

Whisper Me A Love Song is an adaptation of the manga by Eku Takeshima, which began serialization in Comic Yuri Hime in 2019 and has eight tankoubon volumes as of July this year. Kodansha USA describes the plot as:

Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
