Snack Basue Anime Premieres January 2024, Stars Rie Takahashi featured image

A January 2024 premiere, as well as cast and staff details, has been announced for the upcoming anime adaptation of Forbidden Shibukawa‘s Snack Basue gag manga. A new key visual was also released.

Rie Takahashi is headlining the cast as the story’s heroine Akemi (the blonde leaning out from behind the counter in the visual). The other announced voice actors are:

Kimiko Saitou as Basue
Youhei Azakami as Yamada 
Fukushi Ochiai as Tatsu-nii
Ryouta Iwasaki as Morita
Jun Fukushima as Kazama

Minoru Ashina (Nights with a Cat, Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time) is directing Snack Basue in addition to serving as its series composer, script writer, and art director. Toyama is the anime’s character designer and chief animation director, while Studio PuYUKAI is the animation production company.

The Snack Basue manga follows the staff and customers of the titular establishment, which is situated near the Kita Nijuuyo-Jou Station in Hokkaido. It began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in 2017, and 13 tankoubon volumes have been released as of June 2023.
