The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom movie is now up to its third trailer, which crams in plenty of mobile suits and mobile suit action in its 42 seconds. There’s also a new illustration which, in keeping with the mobile suit theme, is dubbed the mecha visual and features the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice Gundams.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom will land in Japanese theaters on January 26, 2024. It is set in the 75th year of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed‘s Cosmic Era timeline, shortly after the end of the Second Alliance-PLANT War in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. Plans for a sequel movie were first announced in 2006 (Seed and Seed Destiny premiered in 2002 and 2004, respectively), and in 2021 it was announced that production was ongoing.

The returning main voice actors include Souichirou Hoshi as Kira Yamato, Rie Tanaka as Lacus Clyne, Akira Ishida as Athrun Zala, Kenichi Suzumura as Shin Asuka, and Maaya Sakamoto as Lunamaria Hawke. The role of Cagalli Yula Athha will be performed by Nanako Mori instead of Naomi Shindou for the movie, although Shindou continues to be Cagalli’s voice actor for recent game releases like August’s P Fever Mobile Suit Gundam Seed pachinko game.

The new movie will also introduce fresh cast members like:

Yukari Tamura as Aura Maha Khyber
Hiro Shimono as Orphee Lam Tao
 Yuuichi Nakamura as Shura Serpentine
• Sumire Uesaka as Ingrid Tradoll
• Misato Fukuen as Redelard Tradoll
 Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Daniel Harper
• Kentarou Tone as Liu Shenqiang
• Griffin Arbalest (voice actor not yet announced)

Gundam Seed saw the debut of the Cosmic Era setting and its enhanced Coordinators. Gundam.info describes the series as:

In Cosmic Era (C.E.) 70…

“The tensions mounted between the Earth Alliance and the ZAFT Forces caused by the ‘Bloody Valentine’ tragedy have erupted into an all-out war.” The Earth Alliance’s mobile armor forces and tanks launch…mobile suits are destroyed one after another…

“It seemed a foregone conclusion that the Earth Alliance, with its superior numbers, would be victorious. But this initial assessment proved to be false. Almost 11 months have passed since the conflict began, with no end in sight…”
