Season five of Bungo Stray Dogs has adapted the source material up to the manga’s most recent chapters, which is currently in its climactic final story arc. It first premiered on July 12, 2023. The first two anime seasons were released in 2016, the third in 2019, and the fourth season earlier in 2023. An anime film titled Bungo Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE was released in 2018. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the film and all previous seasons.
The returning production staff for the fifth season includes Takuya Igarashi as director, Youji Enokido as series screenwriter, Yumiko Kondou as art director, Yukari Gotou as color designer, Tsuyoshi Kanbayashi as compositing director, and Taku Iwasaki as music composer. Bones is the animation production company for the anime once again.
Some of the new cast members that joined the latest season include Takehito Koyasu as Nikolai G, Makoto Koichi as Teruko Okura, Akio Ootsuka as Ochi Fukuchi, Takeshi Kusao as Mushitarou Oguri, and Shouya Chiba as Sigma.
The original manga series is written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which was first serialized in Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine on December 4, 2012. Twenty-four tankoubon volumes have been released as of September 2023.

A spin-off manga titled Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! was adapted into a 2021 anime that was co-produced by Bones with Nomad. Aside from the TV anime series, the manga also inspired a live-action film, stage play, light novels, and more media.
Yen Press releases the Bungo Stray Dogs manga in English and describes the story as:
Having been kicked out of the orphanage, a despairing young man by the name of Atsushi Nakajima rescues a strange man from a suicide attempt–Osamu Dazai. Turns out that Dazai is part of an armed-detective agency staffed by individuals whose supernatural powers take on a literary bent!
