The 16bit Sensation: Another Layer anime has received a main trailer, which previews its characters, its bishoujo game development theme, and the opening song “65535” by Shouko Nakagawa.
The promotional video also reveals the anime’s October 4 (effectively October 5 at 12:30 AM JST) Japanese premiere date and the story’s time travel element, with its illustrator heroine Konoha Akisato finding herself being transported from the modern day to 1992, the time period of the 16bit Sensation manga.
Aside from the trailer, the anime has a key visual and new cast info, with the newly announced cast including Kentarou Itou as Tenchou, Jun Fukushima as Jiangshi, and Aya Yamane as Touya Yamada.
16bit Sensation was originally a doujinshi created by Mitsumi Misato and Aquaplus’ Tatsuki Amazuyu, which was published at Comiket from 2016. The KADOKAWA-published manga by Tamiki Wakaki began in 2020 and has two tankoubon volumes as of November 2021.
The manga kicks off in 1992 and follows Meiko Uehara, a college student who has a part-time job at a PC shop. Meiko soon discovers that the behind-the-scenes, the shop she works in operates as an erotic game developer, and she is asked to help with drawing 18+ illustrations for them due to her art skills.
16bit Sensation: Another Layer is produced by st. Silver with Takashi Sakuma (Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld assistant director) as director, Masakatsu Sasaki (We Never Learn) as character designer and Yashikin (Sword Art Online series’ “Meaning The Start” and “Memory Calibur” composer et al.) as music composer. Wakaki and Tatsuya Takahashi (Idoly Pride series composer) are credited with the main story.
The cast includes Aoi Koga as Konoha Akisato, Yui Horie as Meiko Uehara, Atsushi Abe as Mamoru Rokuta, and Ayako Kawasumi as Kaori Shimota.
