The Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig (Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro/Heat the Pig Liver) anime adaptation has received a new trailer with some fresh cuts of footage, as well as a second key visual and a Japanese premiere date of October 7 (effectively October 8 at 12:30 AM JST).
Theme song details were also announced. ASCA is performing the opening song “Watashi ga Warau Riyuu wa” while Myuk is singing the ending song “Hitori janai.” Both themes are previewed in the trailer.
Butareba: The Story of a Man Turned into a Pig is based on the KADOKAWA light novel series written by Takuma Sakai and illustrated by Asagi Toosaka. The isekai fantasy follows an otaku who is reincarnated in a fantasy world as a pig after losing consciousness from eating raw pig liver. In this world, the now-pig protagonist encounters the kind and beautiful Jess who can read minds.
Masayuki Takahashi (Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon assistant director) is directing the project No.9-produced anime with Deko Akao (Noragami) as series composer and Susumu Watanabe (Cute Executive Officer) as character designer. Kenichirou Suehiro (Re: Zero) and MAYUKO (Ranking of Kings) are composing the music.
The cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Pig, Tomori Kusunoki as Jess, Miyu Tomita as Celes, and Kento Itou as Knot.
The light novel series began publication in 2020 and has seven volumes as of December 2022. It was the gold prize winner of the 26th Dengeki Shousetsu Taishou, and has inspired a manga adaptation drawn by Minami.
