A second trailer has been released for the Tearmoon Empire (Tearmoon Teikoku Monogatari: Dantoudai kara Hajimaru, Hime no Tensei Gyakuten Story) anime adaptation, which is set to begin airing in Japan on October 7 (effectively October 8 at 1 AM JST).

Additional cast members were announced as well, including Toshiki Masuda as Keithwood, Fuuko Saitou as Liora Lulus, Rie Takahashi as Chloe Forkroad, and Makoto Furukawa as Dion Alala.

Tearmoon Empire is based on the TO Books-published light novel series written by Nozomu Mochitsuki and illustrated by Gilse, which began in 2019 and has 13 volumes as of April 2023. J-Novel Club describes the light novels as:

Surrounded by the hate-filled gazes of her people, the selfish princess of the fallen Tearmoon Empire, Mia, takes one last look at the bleeding sun before the guillotine blade falls… Only to wake back up as a twelve-year-old! With time rewound and a second chance at life dropped into her lap, she sets out to right the countless wrongs that plague the ailing Empire. Corrupt governance? Check. Border troubles? Check. Natural calamities and economic strife? Check. My, seems like a lot of work.

Hard work and Mia don’t mix, so she seeks out the aid of others, starting with her loyal maid, Anne, and the brilliant minister, Ludwig. Together, they strive day and night to restore the Empire. Little by little, their tireless efforts begin to change the course of history, pushing the whole of the continent toward a new future. And why did the selfish princess have a change of heart, you ask? Simple—she didn’t. She’s just terrified of the guillotine. They hurt like hell, and Mia hates pain more than work.

The previously announced cast members include Sumire Uesaka as main heroine Mia Luna Tearmoon, Tomori Kusunoki as Anne Littstein, Yuuichirou Umehara as Ludwig Hewitt, Kanon Takao as Tiona Rudolvan, and Nao Touyama as Rafina Orca Belluga.

The anime’s staff includes:

• Director: Yuushi Ibe (The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious assistant director)
• Series composer: Deko Akao (My Stepmom`s Daughter Is My Ex
• Character designer: Mai Ootsuka (The Demon Girl Next Door 2
• Music composer: Su4 Inc.’s Kouji Fujimoto (The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious co-composer) as music composer
• Animation production studio: SILVER LINK

Tearmoon Empire began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2018. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Mizu Morino and a manga spin-off by Naoharu.
