The latest film sees Conan and the Detective Boys visiting Hachijojima Island after receiving an invitation by Sonoko Suzuki for whale watching. Near the island, an ocean facility called the Pacific Buoy, which serves to connect the security cameras of police around the world, is testing a new technology that utilizes facial recognition. When Conan learns from Subaru Okiya that a Europol member has been assassinated in Germany, he sneaks into the Pacific Buoy and discovers that an engineer with an important USB has been kidnapped by the Black Organization. Meanwhile, a dark shadow creeps up and threatens Ai Haibara.
