The upcoming anime adaptation of the Shy superhero manga has received a pre-broadcast trailer ahead of its newly revealed October 2 (effectively October 3 at 1 AM JST) Japanese premiere date. The new promotional video provides a greater look at the internal struggles of the anime’s titular protagonist, as well as the danger posed by the mysterious Stigma.
Stigma, the leader of the villainous Amalareiks group, is voiced by Mutsumi Tamura. Tamura is one of the newly announced cast members for Shy, with the others including Miyuki Sawashiro as Tsuibeta and Rina Hidaka as Kufufu. The latter two have brief appearances in the trailer.
Shy is based on the Akita Shoten-published manga by Bukimi Miki, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in August 2019. Twenty tankoubon volumes have been published as of August 2023.
Yen Press describes the plot as:
Earth was on the brink of a third World War when super-powered individuals came forth from each country around the globe, ending the conflict and ushering in a new era of relative peace. Among those heroes, Japan is represented by a timid young girl known as “Shy.” She may spend more time worrying about her own shortcomings than she does battling villains, but she’ll show the world that despite it all she still has the heart of a hero!
