HoYoverse has announced the release date of Genshin Impact version 4.0 on August 16. This release centers on the fifth nation, Fontaine, as well as other gameplay changes that will be included in this update.
Genshin Impact version 4.0 is dubbed “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason” and features the release of the Hydro nation Fontaine. The key features of Fontaine are its clockwork technology and the large areas submerged in water. Fontaine will offer underwater traversal and combat unique to it.
A trio of new characters will also be included in this release — siblings Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. Making up a pair of magicians, Lyney is a five-star archer who holds a Pyro vision, while his little sister and assistant Lynette is a four-star sword-user with the power of Anemo. The youngest sibling, Freminet, is a diver who wields the power of Cryo as well as a Claymore.
This update will also include quality of life changes for the Playstation versions, including improved graphics via Global Illumination, Gyroscope support, and improved loading times. All versions of the game will also receive an update to the map, allowing it to display multiple layers for underground areas.
