The independently made yuri mecha anime Volicia of Pluto -Vapor Trail Another Age 2006- has achieved its sequel crowdfunding goal of 1 million yen (~US$7,208) on CAMPFIRE with 44 days to spare. The campaign has made 1,041,855 yen at the time of writing.

The 32-minute first part of the anime, titled Volicia of Pluto Chapter One: Gouka, was released on YouTube (with an English subtitle caption option) on July 9 and will be available until August 31. In the story, a high school girl, who loses her chance of becoming a track-and-field runner due to a leg injury, comes to pilot a giant robot that is powered by the soul of her best friend. The sequel has the subtitle of Gunjou (Ultramarine) and is targeted for a winter 2024 release.

Volicia of Pluto Chapter One is directed, edited, written, animated, and composited by AsH with music by nagiha. Volicia of Pluto is AsH’s third work that is themed around yuri, mecha, and sci-fi, following 2021’s Vapor Trail and 2022’s Penetrate Blue: -Vapor Trail Another Age 2824- (which are also available on their YouTube channel). A web novel version of Vapor Trail was serialized on Kakuyomu from 2020 to 2021.
