The production of a new Given anime movie has been announced.

The announcement tweet teases that it is the story of “lonely kids who are en route to becoming adults.” A teaser visual from Given mangaka Natsuki Kizu was released as well.

The Shinshokan-published Given manga began serialization in Chéri+ in 2013 and has eight tankoubon volumes as of October 2022. An 11-episode anime series begin airing in 2019 and was followed by a one-hour movie in 2020.

SuBLime describes the manga as:

Ritsuka Uenoyama is bored with it all—with school, with his basketball club, and even with his one true passion: playing guitar. That is, until the day he finds his favorite hidden napping spot occupied by a strange boy cradling a broken-stringed guitar. At first, Uenoyama is nonplussed by Mafuyu Sato and his slightly odd behavior, but when, on a whim, he asks Mafuyu to sing, the power of that song pierces him to the core.

Both the series and film were produced by Lerche with Hikaru Yamaguchi as director. Mina Oosawa and Yuniko Ayana were the character designer and series composer/scriptwriter, respectively.
