The production team for the long-running Kingdom anime series have announced that a fifth season will premiere in January 2024. They also released a teaser visual and short 10-second video to confirm the fifth season’s production.
The finale for season four was interrupted by impromptu earthquake-related news coverage on several Japanese television stations. It soon aired 45 minutes past its initial premiere time slot later on.

Kingdom as a whole is set in the Warring States period in China. The fourth season follows deuteragonist Ei Sei and his younger brother Ei Kyou fighting against a creeping evil threat, while Shin and Ouhon face strong opposition in their attempts to unify China. Meanwhile, the crowning ceremony for Ei Sei draws near as he ascends to become the Qin ruler and is forced into a conflict of power with a politician named Ryofui.
The production staff for Kingdom’s fourth season includes Kenichi Imaizumi as director, Noboru Takagi as series composer, Hisashi Abe as character designer, Yusuke Mizuno as art director, Miyuki Abe as color designer, Daichi Nogami as photography director, and Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto as music composers. Pierrot and its subsidiary St.Signpost are handling the animation production after working on the series’ previous seasons.
The voice cast consists of Masakazu Morita as Shin, Jun Fukuyama as Ei Sei, Rie Kugimiya as Karyo Ten, Kentarou Itou as Huan Ji, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Ohon, Hirofumi Nojima as Moten, Shirou Saitou as Biao Gong, Kenyuu Horiuchi as Wang Jian, Taiten Kusunoki as Mobu, Akio Katou as To, Yuuya Uchida as Shun Shin Kun, Miou Tanaka as Kan Mei, Atsuko Tanaka as Ka Rin, Daisuke Namikawa as Go Ho Mei, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ko Yoku, and Yuuto Uemura as Haku Rei.
Kingdom is based on the manga series by Yasuhisa Hara, which was first launched in Shuiesha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine on January 26, 2006. It is published under the Young Jump Comics label and the series has released 66 tankoubon volumes as of September 2022. The manga has also inspired a 2010 PSP game and a 2019 live-action film.
Crunchyroll has streamed the fourth season of Kingdom in various English-speaking countries and territories. They also own the streaming rights to the series’ previous seasons. The third season premiered in 2020, while the first two seasons premiered in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
