In/Spectre is based on the Kodansha-published supernatural mystery novel series by Kyou Shirodaira, which began in 2011 and has five volumes, including a short story anthology, as of December 2021. It is currently published under the Kodansha Taiga label. A manga adaptation began in 2015.

The first season of the anime aired in 2020. Crunchyroll describes it as:

Iwanaga Kotoko became the god of wisdom to the supernatural beings and spends her days solving problems for them. However, the boy who she fell head over heels for, Sakuragawa Kuro, is someone that is feared by all supernatural creatures. The two of them face various mysterious incidents involving the supernatural in this love x romance x mystery series. Where will these fantastical incidents lead them and what will happen with Kotoko’s crush?

The returning staff include Keiji Gotoh as director and Noboru Takagi as series composer, with Brain’s Base as the animation production studio. Kentarou Matsumoto (In/Spectre animation director) is taking over from Takatoshi Honda as character designer and chief animation director.

Meanwhile, the returning cast includes Akari Kitou as Iwanaga Kotoko and Mamoru Miyano as Sakuragawa Kuro.
